Its name may sound a bit funny and shady but our stay in Bom Bom Hotel was unexpectedly pleasurable. I am not the type of person who likes to review hotels but this hotel is an exception especially that it is located in a city like Malaybalay.
If it is located in a big city like Davao City or Cagayan de Oro City, it will be a different story because there are a lot of good hotels in those places. When we decided to go and spend 6 days and 5 nights in the non-touristy city of Malaybalay, I was quite worried that we wouldn’t find a decent and comfortable place to stay. I did not want to book some old and dreary business hotel or a sketchy apartelle.
It’s not a five-star hotel but I felt it was. Classical music was being played by the hallways and room service was possible. The people who work there were courteous, polite, and professional. Whatever we requested, they did it in a snap.
For a place like Malaybalay, I was impressed that their building has an elevator and their rooms uses an electronic key. They also have fast and reliable wi-fi that allowed us to have video call with our family and friends back home.
Being a relatively brand new hotel, everything in it was working and functioning. Its interiors are bright and winsome. The overall cleanliness and security are unquestionable.
We stayed in their Premium Deluxe Room (more spacious as compared to the rooms in the lower categories). Our room was not only equipped with flat screened cable TV, safety deposit box, coffee, and tea facility, mini refrigerator, it also came with some premium like dryer, complete toiletries, slipper, and bathrobe.
Their room is how a hotel room should be — SNUG.
Breakfast is complimentary. I love their selections of well-plated breakfast. It was simple but they serve it with fresh fruits and veggies on the side (when I say veggies, not just cucumber and tomatoes). Plus, my boyfriend was satisfied with his brewed coffee and I was happy that I had my poached egg.
Their food was a big surprise for us. It was darn good and inexpensive (for a hotel food). Plus, the proportions are huge. You definitely won’t feel ripped off.
It was funny because when we arrived in the city, we walked around and looked everywhere for decent places to eat. When it occured to us that our hotel has a restaurant, we just ate there the entire time. The food there was delectable and affordable, why it eat somewhere else?
We even celebrated the new year in their restaurant because you couldn’t go wrong with the quality of food there.
We tried almost all their dishes and I highly recommend their Iberian Chicken, Tanguige Fish Steak, and Kare Kare.
Since we celebrated the new year there, they gave us a complimentary slice of their best seller cake, chocolate moist cake. It was so divine. I absolutely love its cream cheese filling.
Staying in Bom Bom Hotel was a treat. For the first time in our Mindanao, we didn’t have to go out on a mission just to find brewed coffee, laundry shop, and an excellent restaurant. It was a relief that everything was available there.
I like Malaybalay as I find this small city very pleasant. I appreciated it all the more because of this hotel. One of these days, I will be coming back to this city and I will certainly stay here.
