The Secret to Lush Lashes

For someone like me who doesn’t wear makeup, my boyfriend could not understand why I suddenly decided to have lash extensions. What he doesn’t know, lash extensions are beauty hack for lazy girls like me who want to have seductive eyes but don’t want to spend too much time applying eyeliner, mascara, and falsies.

Lash extensions are a semi-permanent procedure that promises lush lashes without having to deal with the daily application and upkeep. You can wake up, leave the gym, go straight to a night out after work, even take a #wokeuplikethisselfie, without so much lining in your eyes or swiping mascara. Not only did you just cut down your makeup routine significantly, but you also don’t have to worry about runny makeup-all the while knowing that you look perfectly put together.

You see, for the uninitiated but curious, eyelash extensions aren’t made equal. And the secret of getting great ones that last, are the experts behind.

According to Francel Montana, Brand Manager of Ooh la lash, there are numerous factors that go into the proper application of lash extensions. It is not as simple as gluing strands to your lids-it’s a delicate procedure that requires precision, very high-quality materials, and an understanding of customer needs and expectations.

I  had my eyelash extensions in Ooh la lash Lash Extension Lounge in Glorietta, Makati, and I am glad that I entrusted my eyelash to them. I am writing this blog three weeks after they glued the lash extensions. I wanted to check first the longevity of my lash extensions and how it feels to have them before I blog about this experience.

Being in Ooh La Lash felt like being in a luxurious operating room

Every lash extension is customizable. You begin by choosing the length, curl, and thickness of the lash extensions. The thickness options are 30-50 lashes (Light and Natural), 51-85 lashes (Classic), 86-130 lashes (Diva), Unlimited lashes (Vixen). The lash technician also checks if what you have chosen suits you. Since it was my first time, I chose Natural with 0.15mm x 11mm C curl to be safe. This costs 690 pesos.

Below are the curl and length options:

Ooh la lash uses synthetic and mink extensions, soft and silky fibers imitating real mink fur ideal with fine lashes.

Before I experimented with the lash extensions idea, I did a lot of research and found a lot of nightmare stories about eyelashes extensions that have gone wrong.

It made me feel secure to know that they use FDA approved glue and that they put a lot of premium on the quality of their products.  Since the eyes are one of the most sensitive and delicate areas of the face, they make sure that the materials that they use are safe and gentle, but secure and durable.

The process of attaching the lashes was so relaxing, it made me fall asleep.

When I finally had it, it felt weird that my lashes were thicker but I eventually got used to it.  On the third day, I was already comfortable with it. I didn’t experience any irritation at all. Since they use mink hair as my lash extension, it was light and soft.  It looked naturally lush, and this made me a bit confidently beautifully.

My lash extensions lasted for 2 1//2 weeks. It didn’t fall out all at once but it already looked awkward on me so I went back to the salon to have it removed. (By the way, it’s a must to have a technician to remove it for you so that you won’t lose your real lashes). You also have the option to have it refilled but you can only do it once.

According to the technician, it could last for 3 weeks to a month but it depends on how you take care of it. There’s a lot of dos and don’ts, and I did a lot of don’ts like sleeping on side or stomach, excessive showering and swimming, and rubbing my eyes. Also, avoid using oil-based mascara and oil-based makeup remover.  In maintaining them, use spoolie (mascara wand-style brush) to prevent any crisscrossing or wonky-looking lashes.

Eyelash extensions are awesome to have but I realized that it’s not really ideal for my lifestyle.  I swim twice a week and I surf from time to time. Not to mention, I have an upcoming travel wherein I will be going to places with no specialty salons like this (this will matter if I need to have removed and refilled). These are the factors that you need to consider when having lash extensions. It’s actually great if you won’t do anything but go to work with it but for someone with my way of living, I may not be able to maintain it.

If there is one thing that I like about Ooh la lash is that they are a one-stop shop. They are not just for eyelash extensions, they also offer services like eyelash perming, brow tint, eyelash tint, and eyebrow threading. Since my first eyelash technician noticed that I have long eyelash, she suggested me to have my eyelash permed later on. As soon as I had my eyelash extensions removed, I did have my eyelash permed.

I am so pleased with the service of Ohh La lash. They did not only took time to study the shape of my eye and check the strength of my natural lashes but they also looked at the shape of my brows. They tell you what needs to be done in line with your preferences.

With my overall experience with their products and 5-star service, I will they definitely let them do my eyelash and eyebrows again.

It absolutely pays to go to a salon that knows what they’re doing. So be sure to choose one that you can trust.
